Cracking
Causes:
- Using small pulleys.
- There is belt slippage.
- The diameter of the idler is small.
- Using improper belt.
- Excessively high or low temperature.
Solution:
- Use larger diameter idlers.
- Follow manufacturer’s installation recommendations.
- Acceptable increase in idler diameter.
- Do not over-tighten or bend the belt. Avoid exposure to heat and direct sunlight.
- Monitor engine temperature.
