Cracking

Causes:

• Using small pulleys.
• There is belt slippage.
• The diameter of the idler is small.
• Using improper belt.
• Excessively high or low temperature.

Solution:

• Use larger diameter idlers.
• Follow manufacturer’s installation recommendations.
• Acceptable increase in idler diameter.
• Do not over-tighten or bend the belt. Avoid exposure to heat and direct sunlight.
• Monitor engine temperature.
